Walking
Trek je wandelschoenen aan en stap ’t Klein Keuvelhof uit. Je kan een fikse wandeling naar the city center centre through the splendid polder scenery, but you can also walk towards Oosthoek. Take the Hazegrasstraat or go straight through the polders via the old grassy dikes. From Oosthoek you can walk to the beach via the Zwinbosjes woods or you can walk in the direction of the Zwin Nature Reserve.
Take in the atmosphere
Everyone knows the ‘Place m’as tu vu’ ('Did you see me' square), but there is so much more to see in Knokke-Heist! For instance, you can do a spot of shopping in the amazing boutiquesopen on Sundays, have a generous lunch at one of the cosy eateries or enjoy a culinary evening at a Michelin-starred restaurant. On top of this, there are exhibitions and top-quality events throughout the year that are certainly worth checking out!
Cycling
If you fancy discovering Knokke-Heist by bike, then you’re in for a treat! The 10-km journey across the sea embankment from Zwinmonding via Zoute, Knokke, Albertstrand, Duinbergen and Heist is an experience in itself. You can follow the extensive polder route in the surrounding area or pick a route in the Brugse Ommeland region!
Zeelandic Flanders
You can take a pleasant cycle ride from the holiday home towards Cadzand-Bad (NL) via Zwinmondig, so that you can continue through the dunes on to Breskens. The nature there is simply stunning, and from the dunes you will have an extensive view across the North Sea throughout your cycle ride. A perfect way to rest is to take a pit stop at one of the many beach bars. Or go all the way and pamper your taste buds at Sergio Herman's concept restaurants in Cadzand!
Zwin Nature Reserve
The Zwin Nature Reserve extends across Flanders and the Netherlands, from Knokke to Cadzand. The Zwingeul channel connects the area to the North Sea which flows into the nature reserve twice a day. The daily influence of the salt water on the Zwinvlakte plain means it has unusual flora and fauna that are unique to the southern North Sea coast.
The Zwin Nature Reserve welcomes thousands of migratory birds each year on their journeys to southern overwintering regions or when they are returning from their breeding grounds in the north. You can explore the nature reserve with a guide or discover it under your own steam. Whichever way you visit the nature reserve, it is highly recommended!
Bruges
Bruges is also a mere stone’s throw away from your new favourite base. How about shopping until you drop, strolling around the city and discovering its history, taking a romantic ride on a horse-drawn carriage, or enjoying a boat tour along the canals of Bruges? Bruges is justifiably known as the ‘Venice of the North’ and it is definitely worth a visit.
